The short version

Google supports updates, offers, and events. Posts may be pending review, so check their status after publishing.

Step by step

1. Open the verified profile. Sign in to the Google account that manages the eligible business, find the profile in Search or Maps, and choose Add update or Posts.

2. Choose the right post type. Use Update for general news, Offer for a dated promotion, and Event for an event with start and end dates.

3. Write for a local customer. Put the practical detail first: what changed, who it is for, and what the customer should do. Add a relevant photo or video and a trustworthy destination link.

4. Check status and freshness. After publishing, review whether it is Live, Pending, or Not approved. Google says posts older than six months are archived unless a date range applies; edit time-sensitive details when they change.

Before you publish

  • Confirm your profile is verified and the business is eligible.
  • Use real dates and terms for offers; remove expired claims.
  • Do not put a phone number in the post description if Google cannot verify it as belonging to the business.
