Best free LinkedIn tools for scheduling, writing, and research
Start with LinkedIn’s built-in scheduler and analytics. Add a free third-party tool only when you need more channels, a different editor, or a clearer content workflow.
What counts as free?
This list separates features you can keep using at no charge from trials and paid plans. Product features and free-plan limits change, so each vendor’s linked plan page is the final check before connecting an account.
Free LinkedIn options at a glance
LinkedIn’s built-in scheduler is the simplest no-cost choice for an occasional post. If you need a cross-network queue, Buffer and Publer both list free plans that include LinkedIn among supported channels; their limits are per connected channel/account.
LinkedIn’s built-in scheduler
Schedule supported posts from LinkedIn’s own composer, then view, edit, reschedule, or delete them in its scheduled-post list. LinkedIn documents a window from 10 minutes to three months ahead. It does not replace a cross-platform content calendar or provide a single view for every network. Events, jobs, and services are not supported post types.
Buffer Free
Buffer’s free plan includes up to three channels and up to 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time. LinkedIn profiles and Pages are among its supported channels. This can cover a small posting routine; the queue limit matters if you batch more than 10 future posts per LinkedIn channel.
Publer Free
Publer’s free plan includes up to three supported social accounts, up to 10 pending scheduled posts per account, 25 drafts, and 24-hour published-post history. Its help center lists LinkedIn profiles and Pages as supported, so one LinkedIn destination can use one of the three account slots. The X account exclusion does not apply to LinkedIn.
Free post-preparation tools
Taplio lists a free Chrome extension for LinkedIn insights and saved content; it is not a permanent free scheduler plan. For formatting, check whether the editor you choose relies on LinkedIn’s own scheduling availability. Avoid mistaking a trial for a free tier.
Choose by the limit you can live with
- Choose LinkedIn’s native scheduler if LinkedIn is your only destination and you publish occasionally.
- Choose Buffer if three total channels and a 10-post queue per channel cover your schedule.
- Choose Publer if you want up to three connected social accounts and can live with short post history and a 10-post pending queue per account.
- Try a paid LinkedIn-focused editor only if its formatting, analytics, or drafting features save enough time to justify the ongoing price.
