The short version

Archive a post from its menu, then use Your activity and Archive to review it. Interface labels can vary by app version.

Step by step

1. Open the post you want to hide. From the post menu, choose Archive. The post leaves your profile grid, but archiving does not delete it.

2. Find archived posts. Open your profile menu, choose Your activity, then Archive. In some app versions, Archive appears directly in the menu.

3. Restore a post. Open the archived post, use its menu, and choose Show on profile. Check the grid afterward; the post returns with its existing engagement data where Instagram makes that available.

Before you publish

  • Archive is useful for seasonal content or a temporary profile refresh.
  • Save a copy of the original media and caption if you need a separate backup.
  • Do not confuse Archive with Delete or Recently deleted; those have different effects.
